Missing datastore/VMs after downgrade

I was running ESXi 3.5 build 130755 which I'm guessing came from an

install from 3.5 update 2 and then patch ESXe350-200811401-O-SG. For various reasons, I downgraded to update 2 (no patch) and now my datastore/VM's are missing. I used the vmware client to set

Configuration / Advanced / SCSI / Scsi.ScsiRescanAllHbas = 1 and tried to rescan storage adapters but that did not help.

Has anyone run across this before or know how to fix this? Thanks in

Configuration / Advanced / LVM / LVM.EnableResignature = 1 and then rescanned. Powering up my VM gave an error on the VM page of the vmware client - I had to create a new ID as it recognized the VM had been copied or moved.
