Migration from ESXi 5 to 3.5

Hello Experts,

I would like to ask, how is it possible to copy/clone virtual machine from vSphere (ESXi 5.0) to ESXi 3.5 hypervisor?

With OVF templates this is not working , because of the different versions. When I try just simple copy/paste .vmdk file from ESXi 5.0 to ESXi 3.5 I always get I/O error.

Could you give me any advice?

What virtual hardware version is the VM you are wanting to migrate?

The best option is likely to be to use vm convertor to move it.

Try copying the vmdk using FastSCP and registering it on 3.5

Also you can try VMware converter.
