ML115 G1 installing ESX 3i Problem

Hi all

I have been trying to install ESX 3i onto my ML115 G1 Server. I am unable to get this working.

The server has a MCP55 SATA Controller and a broadcom BCM5721 NIC.

Obviously as per other posts I am unable to install to SATA Storage.

I followed the advice on creating the USB bootable image using Winimage. In Disk Management I can see the USB Drive (2gb in size) has 4 partitions.

When I boot I get:

Cannot get bank 1 paramaters.

Warning: Bank 1 partition type invalid. Ignoring.

Cannot get bank 2 paramaters.

Warning: Bank 2 partition type invalid. Ignoring.

Panic: No useable banks found.

I am unable to get past this. I have checked the bios settings. Firmware on the G1 is latest available.

I know it works fine on the ML115 G5, this is a G1 server.

Can anyone help? Is it the server or is the USB image corrupt?

Thanks

N.

Got if fixed using advice from another post.

You need to set the bios emulation on the ML115 G1 to Hard Disk.

I had done this, but had not swapped around the hard disk order. Bios is not the most intuitive.

Working fine, seeing the VMFS3 SATA local disk also. Impressive product for free.

Server cost £89+vat. Excellent solution for a small business or Home Office.
