Hi,
I am trying to install VmWare Esxi 3.5 on my machine.
But while installing it always display an error message
"Installation Operation Failed"
"Unable to find a supported device to write VmWare ESX server 3i 3.5.0 image to".
Is there any issue with the configuration of my machine?
Is VmWare not installable on 64 bit machines?
Can any buddy please help me out with this issue
Thanks in advance
Welcome to the VMware Community forums. ESXi is not able to recognize the storage controller in your host. What model of controller do you have and what is the PCI id - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/find_PCI_ID.php?
Hi Dave,
Following is the information of the Mass Storage Controller in my machine:
IDE Interface mass storage controller: Intel Corporation 8280 1 EB (ICH5) SATA Controller.
Class 0101: 8086:24d1
I am using SATA HDD with Intel 2.6 D processor.
Is there any issue with the configuration?
Thanks
ESXi is loading an IDE driver for the controller and by default ESXi won't install to IDE. Try this method to install - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/ESXi_install_to_IDE_drive/ESXi_install_to_IDE_drive.php.
