Intel Pro/1000 PT Quad Port not recognized

Hi

This is my first post to this forum.

I have a Quad Port Intel NIC that will not get recognized by ESXi 3.5 or ESX 4. The funny thing is that I have the same adapter in another server and was picked up fine during the install.

Details:

Dell PowerEdge 1950 Server

BIOS: Latest 2.6.1

Intel NIC: Intel Pro/1000 PT Quad Port - EXP1940PTBLK (Its not the bypass - full length version)

Any help would be great.

You may need to add drivers for that card. Check the vmware download pages for Intel specific downloads.

Weird... That card is on the HCL list.

I have made a USB live Ubuntu drive and it will not recognize the card either.

We are now putting the card in another system to see if its detected under a standard Windows install.

I am getting the feeling the card is bad. Very rare but could be defective.

The card was DOA. Very rare but Dell replaced it and the new one works like a charm.
