Installing ESX3.5i on IBM x3440 crash

I 'm installing ESX3.5i on a IBM x3440 8Gb. 250GB SATA RAID 1.

Installation and deployment works fine, but when i add a 3c905cx -tx NIC and reinstall it crashes.

Again I remove NIC and works fine. NIC is listed in simple.map. Installation CD is IBM custom, downloaded from Vmware Site.

What can I do?

I hope this help.

Best regards.

Gabriel.

Hi Gabriel..

The simple.map may orignate from ESX2 where this NIC was supported .. dont know ;-(

What I do know iis what's on the VMware HCL is what goes... Smiley Wink

Don't waste time on trouble shooting this.. replace the NIC with a supported one from the HCL, IMO.

Certainly, officially not, but there are reports about 3c905c works fine with ESX3.5i U3.

In simple.map there a lot of 3COM devices. Question: devices listed in simple.map suggest compatibility, althought this compatibility isn't in VMWare HCL ?

Regards.

Gabriel.
