Installer exits during upgrade to VC 2.5u5

I'm running VC 2.5u4 and want to upgrade to u5. My VC runs in a guest VM. I connect the VM to the installation ISO, and when I start the installer it almost immediately exits with "The wizard was interrupted before Vmware Infrastructure Management could be completely installed", but no other error message.

Is there a log somewhere or some other information I can dig up to try and isolate what the problem is?

Have you tried with the zipped installer yet? At one point with 2.5 I believe it made a difference if you installed from one source you also had to upgrade via the same source.

That could be it.

I'm having trouble downloading the zip version, but I'm sure I initially installed with the zip version.
