Install ESX4 on VMware Server 1.0.X or 2.X. Is it possible?

I'm working with very limited resources and am wondering if I could use vmware server to evaluate ESX 4.

Has anyone been able to get this working?

I know it can be done with Workstation.

Welcome to the Forums - I would use xtravirt's instructions on installing ESX3.5 on vmware server - http://xtravirt.com/xd10072

No. VMware Server 1.x is just too old, and there are bugs in VMware Server 2.x which preclude running ESX 4 in a VM.
