How do i upgrade from 3.5 U3 to U4?

Hi guys

I cant seem to find any guides on how to upgrade from ESXi 3.5 U3 to U4 which was released recently.

I tried to boot from the CD and went through install screens but stopped when I didnt see an Upgrade option, it told me if I continued it would install a new instance and I would lose my VMs.

Any advise please?

If you have vCenter, then the easiest option is to Update Manager. If you're not using Update Manager, then you can use infrastructure update.

You won't use the CD to upgrade to Update 4. See here if you don't have vCenter - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Patch_3i_without_VC.php
