How do I migrate GSX VMDK's to my new ESX 3i (3.5) server?

I am very new to the VMware world, and I proved to our client the use of VMware by proving GSX.

Now I need to migrate those VMDK's over - I have read documentation on how to move the folders over to your datastore, but this does not appear to work. Any step by step tutorials? Do I need to use command line? Anyway I can do this strictly through the VCI?

Easiest option is to use vmware converter. You can take the running vm, and run converter against it. It will do the job for you.

VMware Converter should be able to take care of this for you. You can download the starter edition, it's free.

Beating a dead dog here but like the other two have pointed out, VMware converter will take care of the migration. Should be a pretty painless process.
