How do I isolate VM machine from network but not gateway ESXi 4.0

I want to be able to restore my server to a VM. Then boot it up and have it be able to get to the gateway but not the rest of my network so I do not have IP conflict issues etc.

Then I could do test installs of patch’s, hot fixes, software, etc. before I try it on the real server.

I suggest to create another portgroup with an applicance that do firewall between networks.

Why can you not just change the ip of the restored one?
