dropdownlist is empty nothing in it.

just a question... Did you check to ensure the check mark next to connected and connect at power is present?
You might want to try it as a generic SCSI device - see this thread for details - http://communities.vmware.com/thread/135694?tstart=0&start=15. Otherwise, you might consider using an ISO image on the datastore or a client side CD-ROM / ISO image.
hosts devices are always connected. its grayed out.
and the connection behavior does not not relate to the empty dropdownlist.
i will try theSCSI device next
