HA : Overcommitted cluster

:vc2.5Update4:ESX3.5iUpdate4

> I have a 4 node cluster with configured failover capcity 2.

> powered on significant number of VMs, almost 50% used

> Current failover capacity shown as 2

but, the cluster is with an yellow mark on it ( which I understand that tells the cluster is overcommitted). Any ideas, why it shows yellow mark? In my case I did not see any issues that might trigger this yellow flag.

If your ESX are at 50% and you want to have a failover capacity of 50%, then the warning is correct.

Andre,

ESX at 50% and failover capacity 50%.

In this case, it has the required failover capacity to fullfill in case of failure. Admission control is enabled.

From the all the above conditions, the usage and the spare capcity are at correct level. Can you please tell in which way the cluster is overcommitted?

Thanks,

SWAMY

Yellow mark is only a warning .

The red mark is an error.
