Files disappearing from ESXi file system

We are using ESXi 3.5 on Dell PowerEdge 1950 server which is connected to Dell MD1000 disk-array.

Today morning when we restarted the ESXi machine we found after restart that some files from couple of VMs were missing. E.g. In one VM directory, the only files left were swap file and disk file and other files just had disappeared.

What would be causing this?

TIA.

do you hopefully have a backup or a snap shot of the vm thats affected ?

give a shot in the dark ...

if no one accidentally deleted the files I would guess its the hardware with MD1000, how are the disks configured ?

Hi,

Are you seeing any corruption in files or just deletions?

Regards

Deletions.

Don't think anyone has deleted the files. The VM was working fine yesterday evening. Today when ESXi machine was restarted, VM was showed as "Inaccessible" on VI console. When we browsed datastore, these files weren't there.

I presume you wouldn't be able run VM fine when files are deleted and so I presume that files disappeared when ESXi was restarted.
