I built a VM from a template of Win2k3 Server SP2. The template had a 8 Gb C: drive. Once I had the VM setup OK, I powered it off, editted the settings and changed the Hard Disk 1 size to 20 Gb. When I restarted the VM, C: was still 8 Gb and there was an unpartitioned, unformatted 12 Gb space at the end of the virtual disk that contained the C: drive.
I guess I was hoping that somewhow C: would now have grown to be 20 Gb. I guess I can partition it and format it and I'll have a 12 Gb 😧 or E; or whatever, but I'd prefer it all to be part oft he same drive letter. Can that be done?
You have to use "diskpart" to expand the partiton in Windows, but you cannot extend a system partition.
If you want a larger system drive, you could use the standalone converter to convert the current VM to a new one with a bigger system drive.
You're stretching me into new space, but I'll give it a try. Thanks.
