EVA 4400 connectivity loss does not show in console?

Hi,

I have an EVA 4400 wih 2 controllers, going to 2 switches, and then each server has a 2 port fibre HBA one port going to each switch...

This morning I lost connectivity on one server on one port (Faulty cable)... anyway when I looked at the system in the client, under storage adapters, it showed both adapters, however one had the EVA controller itself, and the two SAN disks whilst the other (The one with the faulty cable) showed the disks but not the controller, despite several rescans...

The only way to get the truth about what was happening was to look at esxcfg-mpath -l which showed paths as being dead etc...

Why is the client showing me the disks on the failed cable port in this situation?

Storage monitoring must be done with other tools.

ESX Multipath simple switch to a new path, but no warning or alert in this cases.
