ESXi with CSB-6 (ServerWorks) IDE RAID controller

I have an HP Proliant ml330 G3. It has an on-board ServerWorks CSB-6 IDE RAID controller, to which I have attached a single 300GB IDE drive.

I'd like to use it with VMware ESXi in a test capacity (not production), so I understand that this configuration is not supported.

I don't have it configured to use any of the RAID features... it's just set up as an regular IDE disk.

Has anyone managed to get ESXi installed on an HP ml330 G3 with the CSB-6 IDE? I have found a few posts on the web about similar HP Proliants, but not this one, and, none of the suggestions in those posts were able to get it to install.

Thanks to all in advance!!

I should have added, that when I go to the Tech Support Console, lspci shows the CSB IDE/RAID controller as a vmhba, but fdisk -l does not show anything, despite the 300GB disk I have attached.

I also have the disk set up as a single-disk RAID 0, which is the "simplest" configuration that the on-board IDE RAID conroller will allow.

Thanks to all in advance for any tips!!
