ESXi and UPS?

How should we plan with using UPSs with ESXi? As there is no SC to install any UPS agents that can shutdown servers/hosts etc, how is UPS/Power to be handled in an ESXi-based world?

Best regards

Henrik

Hi,

I am following your step-by-step guide but fail at step 2...

how do I add the USB device after adding the USB controller to the VM?

I have tried numerous times to reboot the host but it says that the USB controller has no configurable options, I am using ESXi version 5.0

hmm, after you added the usb controller you should be able to add an usb device. Same way as adding the usb controller.

Maybe one of the prerequisites is missing like vmHarware Version minimum 7 or USB2 (not USB3) port/device (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102229...)?

The process is pretty straight forward. Once you add the USB controller to the VM you should be able to simply attach the USB device. Just make sure that it is a supported device.
