ESXi 3.5u2 on Dell R805 w/QLE220 HBA

I have a Dell Poweredge R805 with a QLogic QLE220 Fiber Channel HBA. The HBA is not shown in the storage adapters list. Is it possible to install the driver? From what I can tell on the QLogic Support site it can use the same 707 driver that the HCL QLogic devices use, as listed in the VI35_IO guide.

The QLE200 firmware is not compatible with the 2312 asic. I cannot see how it can work with the 23xx based driver.

Thanks for your repsonse. I was afraid of that.

Anyone any suggestions for getting this to work? Should I look at messing with the install image and including drivers?

Given that you have a 'shiny, new' server, I would stick with what's on the HCL. I did take a look at the W2K3 driver on the page you supplied and the driver download (for W2K3 at least) would work with the 220 as well as other 23xx models. Further, the PCI database files that ship with ESXi would attempt to load the driver in question for the QLE200 / 210 models. So you might have a chance if you modify oem.tgz ( see the instructions I have on vm-help.com).

But again, if this is for production I would stick with a model from the HCL.
