ESXi 3.5 u4 on USB, Unable to Create Datastore on RAID 5, Cannot see anything

I'm a newbie at this. I have ESXi 3.5 u4 installed on a USB stick. I have a supermicro machine with 1.65TB RAID 5 that I cannot see to create a datastore. I have tried formating the drive using a linux live cd but not sure if I am missing something here. This is what it looks like when trying to create a datestore.

I believe it is seeing my storage adapter

It says PATA Storage adapter vmhba0 type Block SCSI.

I also went into Tech Support mode and did a fdisk -l , not sure if this helps

/dev/disks/vmhba32:0:0:1 Start 5 End 750 Blocks 763904 ID 5 System Extended

" " 4 * Start 1 End 4 Blocks 4000 ID 4 System FAT16 <32M

" " 5 Start 5 End 52 Blocks 49136 ID 6 System FAT16

There's a few more. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Using a 3ware 9500S-8 card

ESXi doesn't have a 3ware driver in the install. You can add it for some models - I'm not sure about the 9500S-8 - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/customize_oem_tgz.php.

Those two would be your flash drive. What is the full output from fdisk -l ?

Attached is a picture of the output.

That output is just your USB drive. As Dave said you will need to look to see if you can add the drivers for your card

.

because ESXi doesn't have built in drivers.
