ESXi 3.5 on a HP ProLiant ML110 G3

Hello

I have tried a lot. But always the same result.

I try ESXi 3.5 U4 on an HP ProLiant ML 110 G3 to run. Installation CD and USB stick. Generig and HP image.

I always get the Purple screen with an APIC message if he wants to load the ipmv module.

Current BIOS is installed.

Hard disk are in Compatibility mode (SATA only) in BIOS. There are 2x SATA disk. No RAID.

I try many diffrent setings in BIOS... But always same result...

I know it is not supported HW.

I have searched a lot and I know I'm not the only one how wants to install it on a ML110 G3.

So maybe there are some new ideas what i could to try!

Thanks!!!

Sebi

You can't install the HP image on an ML110. You need to use the the VMware generic image. USB install

It is very difficult installing anything on unsupported hardware. It is also an older platform so you have many things against you. Manufacturers stop maintaining software or drivers at some point. Problems with firmware don't get resolved. Even if you do get it installed and working I wouldn't want to put it into production.

Try disabling APIC in the BIOS if that is possible. Visit http://vm-help.com to see if there are any possible work arounds.
