ESXi 3.5 and Windows 2008 Server

I install the server, it was clean and fast one, no additional software, just the 2008 Server. Internet and network was fine, i can browse the internet, the domain workstations, etc, but i noticed that i cannot install any of the server updates from the net.

When I install the sam OS to the Vmplayer 3.0 everything was OK, the Updates too.

Did someone encounter the same problem with ESXi ?

You need to provide some details. What errors do you receive? Event Viewer shows what?

and in the log file placed in the \Windows\Softwaredistribution\

You have a Windows problem. Do some Google searches for Error(s) found : code 80240038 or some of the other parts of the messages.

I have "googlized" my issue, but no answers so far.

But, if it is a Windows Problem, why can it download updates w/o problems when it is installed onto WMpLayer 3.0 ?

Same ISO images, just different Virtualizations hosts.

Google turns up pages of reference to the error number related to updates.

Windows Update service in the services mmc is set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)" by default.

Disable the service and then apply - enable the service to Automatic without the Dealyed Start and apply again.
