As the title says, the SAS cable got pulled out from the drive shelf. The ESX server is still up, we can see the 2 LUN's but get the error trying to connect it...
"Error during configuration of the Host. Failed to update disk partition information."
I *THINK* the 2 LUNS were joined to appear as one big datastore.
Any ideas on how to get the LUN's back online?
Thanks
First, have you tried rescan of the hba's? A reboot?
As long as the two LUNs are in tact, the data should be fine. If they LUNs were joined via an extent, then the 1st lun will definitely need to be in tact before the 2nd LUN can be added on.
If the hba sees the LUNs as new devices id's, then they could be seen as snapshots. You can use this article http://kb.vmware.com/kb/6482648 to fix that.

Yes, we rebooted the ESX host a few times and rescanned the HBA's.
Called support and still no call back......sheeeesh!
Got it back online though. How did we do it?
The ESX host was "Powered off" from an HP iLO connection then powerd back up from an HP iLO connection.
Apparently upon powerup? it does a small re-discovery process of the devices and mounts them? That's the SWAG anyway.
Then vioala! All came up like nothing happened.
Or did we just get lucky? :smileyconfused:
