Hi,
i have 1 powerEdge 2950 III, with ESXi 3.5 (the last build :
143129). I have two broadcom netxtreme nic. there are connected on two
physical switch port (Hp procurve).the first port is tagged vlan 101
and the other is tagged vlan 103. i have activated vlan on the two
broadcom. On esxi i put 101 for the vlan of first nic (for VM Manager)
and vlan 103 for the second (for the VM).
Finally, the two broadcom don't ping anything.
Someone can help me ?
thank's

bonjour,
Merci,
Thank you. I am currently not able to check with my VI. But in between, you could read this paper about ESX and VLAN.
EST would be best, but would perhaps need a reconfiguration of the Switch. Perhaps you forward the link or document to your networking guys for advice.
So you are using tagged VLAN, not static?
How did you configure the vSwitch(es)? Are this two nics used in a trunk for failover?
Make a screenshot of the network section of ESXi (VI-Client, Overview) for easier understanding, if possible.
So you are using tagged VLAN, not static? ->Yes, tagged vlan. It's an another team that manage all the switch. All i know is that all the servers are Debian/Linux(virtualisation with xen). This is the first under ESXi. All the server have Intel E1000 nic. Mine is the first with broadcom nic netxtreme II. Before integration of my server under Vlan, i had no problem when it was on a network without vlan. How did you configure the vSwitch(es)? Are this two nics used in a trunk for failover? ->no, just 1 nic per switch. vlan 101 for VM manager, and port group vlan 101 too.Make a screenshot of the network section of ESXi (VI-Client, Overview) for easier understanding, if possible.->yes i will do that on the next reply today.
Thank's a lot.
Do I understand correct?
Tagging is not really needed from your view as there is a single connection NIC <--> Port/VLAN... This is only a limitation of the management of the physical switches (for easier management)?
Have a look into this VMware document explaining the details of virtual networking.

Hi,
No problem with ESXi and my configuration of it. The problem was on one of the switch of the network.
thank's for your help and the links to good documentations.
