ESX / ESXi will not install

Hi!

I am just trying to play around with some ESX / ESXi at home so that when need to do it at work i wont look silly trying how to set up the virtual network / switches...

Unfortunatly when i boot off of the install CD's and attempt to install it gives me an error message saying that it cannot find any stoarge device to install onto. Any help figuring this out would be great.

This is the system i am trying to install it on.....

AMD Phenom 9950

ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe / WIFI

8GB OCZ DDR2

80GB Western Digital Raptor

4 x Maxtor 500 GB sata

Generic CD-rom

Plextor CD Burner

Thanks!

Ken

what the install is telling you is that your storage controller on the Motherboard is not supported, ie there is not driver in the install package. ESX and its little brother ESXi have a very limited driver set, this is by design as ESX has come down form the enterprise and rates stability over compatibility. read the relevant HCL's for an idea of what is and is not supported, also visit http://www.vm-help.com to see what white box solutions people have got ESX to work on
