ESX 3.5-Up4 - Performed Updates through Update Manager, but UP5 is installed

Hello,

right now i updated one of my 3 esx hosts through update manager (Default Repository with ciritical updates), but as i typed in "esxupdate query" in the console , i couldn't find the UPDATE 5 for ESX.

For a differential list of rpms, use the -l/--listrpms option.

Is it possible to install UPDATE Pack 5 through Update Manager or do i have to install the UPdate Pack through ISO or CD?

Update 5 (and the other Updates ) are not a critical patch, they are under non-critical catagory. Keep in mind that the Updates are just patch bundles that they decided to update the installation media with, so you have some Update 5 and post-Update 5 patches installed on your system now.

OK. So...next time when an update pack will be online (e.g. update pack 6) and if i want to install this new update pack (e.g. update pack 6), do i have to install update pack 5 first or can i install update pack 6 over my actual update pack 4?

Go straight from Update 4 to 6...it will include any necessary intervening patches. (some of the update 5 patches will be superceded by update 6 patches.)

Thanks a lot for your advices. But asking in advance...stays EVERY configuration i made in my esx host or by vmware infrastructure client the same, or are there some jobs, that have to be done after an update like network configuration or VLAN or something like that?

In general, no, there's no need for reconfiguration after updating a host with patches/updates.
