Is there a way to persuade the ESXi installer to install onto an array
on Dell PERC2? I can see that it loads the right driver (megaraid2),
but then it complains that it couldn't find any supported devices to
install on. Surely if it's good enough for the Linux kernel it's
loading, it should be able to use it, no?
Yes, I know the hardware is woefully out of date, but it's the only
machine I have kicking about at the moment and I figured it'd be good
enough to take ESXi for a test drive.

If the PERC2 uses the same driver as the PERC3 then you might get ESXi to use it. Can you post the PCI if for it?

Oddly, I can see megaraid2 being listed, and MegaRAID 428 being listed under it. But the installer seems to claim it couldn't find any supported storage devices, even though it loads the megaraid2 driver.
Did you ever get this working and what version of ESXi were you using? I have a AAC-364-DELL2 (PERC2) sitting on my desk that I would like to use.
I would head on over to the http://vm-help.com website.
