Deleted vmdk file; is there any hope?

Hello,

I deleted a "foo-000001.vmdk" file on a ESXi 3.5.0 machine and of course it crashed. Yes, a dumb move. Is there any way to recover? There are foo-000002 through 5.vmdk files if that matters.

That isn't possible with any tools that I am aware of.

Although before you give up hope, dont do anything on the datastore and contact VMware support they may be able to recover it for you. Otherwise you could investigate hardware file recovery, which will be v expensive but might be your last hope!

Was the LUN on a SAN, do you have SAN snapshots or repliaction in place ?

Try to use a data recovery software, like easyrecovery or getdataback, if you are lucky will probably recover this file.
