Connecting to Guest OS

Hi! I've been testing out the connectivity of a guest OS running on an ESXi machine. The problem is that I can't successfully ping a guest OS from another computer on the same network. The guest OS is able to reach other IPs on the network (through ping), but not the other way round. The guest OS is WindowsXP, and the local IPs are set to static.

Is there any way around the problem?

check your windows firewall on the XP guest. Disable it, see if that helps.

Check your netmask. My guess is that your netmask is probably larger than the other machines on your network, so you can see them, but they can't see you.

thx, it was as simple as that! The firewall was the problem. It's always turned off on all other systems; I forgot all about it!
