Cannot mount an external usb disk in ESXi 5.0

Hello,

I just migrated to ESXi 5.0 and I want to use the ghettoVCB script to backup my VMs to an external usb disk.

But when logged on via SSH, I cannot find my usb disk. If I go to /dev/disks my external usb disk is not listed.

After some searching, I found the following article: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1036340

After indeed stopping first the usbarbitrator, I see my usb disk listed under /dev/disks.

The problem I have now, is that I can't mount that disk.

I get the message that mount (and umount) is not found.

Does someone else also has this issue?

And any solutions to this?

I need a good solid way to backup my VMs.

Thx!

/T

ESXi dont support USB drive as datastore.

Possible option is to add the usb to your system where vsphere client is installed and connected to host or vcenter.
