What did not happen? Did nothing happen in the OS? Did nothing happen in vCenter/ESX? If it is the OS you will probably need to rescan the disks and than increase disk size with a tool like diskpart / extpart

If you expand virtual HDD you should then expand your partition. Dell ExtPart is very useful in this case.

dell extpart or gparted is your best option to resize the C:\ partition. Diskpart can't cope with it,
