Adaptec iSCSI

Anyone using an Adaptec iSCSI adapter with ESXi? Is there a driver update needed?

Welcome to the VMware Community forums. Only Qlogic cards are supported for iSCSI with ESX / ESXi - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi35_io_guide.pdf. It may be that Adaptec is planning to develope some drivers for ESX so you may want to check with them. While some ESX drivers are derived from Linux drivers, they do have to be specifically modified to work with the vmkernel of ESX (as it is not based on Linux) thus you aren't able to add just any driver to ESXi.

What model of HBA are you attempting to use?

VMware provided a sample vmkernel driver for one of the Adaptec iSCSI cards in their DDK. I can take a look and see if it matches the HBA you're using.

It's an Adaptec 7211. Let me know, it would be great if it is since there seem to be a flood of these on the market for a great price.

Thanks,
