Access guest OS files from console

Is there a way to access guest OS files from the console? I have an ISO hidden somewhere in a Debian guest OS and it would need to be moved to the console (datastore)... Tried SCP and FTP, but there is no IP connectivity between both it seems.

No there is no direct access to the files stored in a VM from the ESX console - if the VM is on your network and you can route between the service console IP and VM IP then yes you should be able to use SCP -

check out the VMware Guest Console from the VMware Labs. It's a seperate product, but it's free!

The other direction Debian --> ESXi datastore may work.

However, you need to configure the unsupported ftp or ssh access as described in http://www.vm-help.com/index35.html
