Hello,
I was able to compile a kernel for AMD 64-bit paravitualization and run it, and also for 32 Intel. However, when I try to enable paravirtualization for a 64 bit guest on a Intel server, it will not start. (Shortly into the bootup process it complains af if it is not a 64-bit cpu). Anyone else have this problem, and/or able to get paravirtualization to work with a 64 bit guest on Intel? (This is on a quad core Xeon, so fairly new CPU).
SMI Funciton on ESX 3.5 work only 32-bit Linux Guest OS and best performance on 1 vCPU.
Ok. So, is that a limitation of the Intel CPUs, why 64-bit paravirtualization works with AMD and not Intel?
Is it just a software issue (vmware upgrade), or a hardware issue?
