When I open the plugin manager in VI 2.5, all I see are the 'available' and 'installed' tabs with the 'Ok' button. No plugins listed, no option to check/update or install any. No indication how to manually install plugins or add them to the plugin manager. Is there a document on how to set this up?

You would need to install some software that includes a plugin. For example, if you install the VMware powershell extension and the instal the latest version of PowerGUI, you'll then see an add-in for PowerGUI on the available tab and you can enable it to have the PowerGUI menu options in the VI client.
Whenever I've gotten hold of a plugin, I find that I usually have to copy it locally on the pc that I am using vi client from in the following directory : C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins. Vi client will then automatically pick it up and all you have to do is enable it in the installed tab (some have an installation program).
