will ESX 3.0.1 run VMWare Workstaion 6 Virtual machine?

Hello,

Sorry for my complete ignorance on this subject. I've tried looking through the manuals but can't find the answer, and don't understand ESX architecture enough.

I have a user who has ESX 3.0.1 infrastructure.

I have a VMWare 6 virtual machine.

Can I "drop" the virtual machine into the ESX infrastructure?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

There are several options:

If the VM was created with SCSI disks you can import the disk using vmkfstools and create a new VM on ESX pointing to the imported disk.

If you used IDE disks you can use VMware Converter to do the job.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

My vm has 2 disks, one IDE and one SCSI!

SCSI disk has current size of 346 MB

IDE disk has current size of 4.36 GB.

Does this mean I only need to do the VMWare Converter job?

Cheers

Yes - use Converter to do the conversion.
