Hi,

We really need more info on how you defined the networking components to correctly answer your query.

My gut feel is that you have a default gateway/route issue of some kind.

fine mike.. i will explain...see i have an ibm x series box with six gigabyte adapters.one for service console and other for vmotion. the rest four are dedicated for VM's. the ESX host machine is connected through two HBA adapters to the SAN. my requirement is like; each vm need two network adapters and 2 gb RAm etc .etc... once the virtual machine is up and enbaled one adapter to 172.16.1.140, i cannot connect to the gateway(172.16.1.222). meantime i can access all subnet one machines including AD. later i removed the second network adpter and checked for connectivity outside the subnet. fine it worked. .(is ther any thing like teaming of network adapters in the vm's)but this time i cannot connect to AD and Lotus...i think you got the brief of my issue

note. All the phyical switch ports are configured to trunk

Hi,

Yes there are issues with that configuration. Primarily the two nics at the vm level. The underlying ESX host will place each vm on a specific nic based on teaming route policy and the MAC will register on the switch at a port level so it will have trunk issues. You need to use IP route based policy and not the default port ID.

Mike

Hello Mike,

Thanks a lot and i really appreciate your valuble command. since i changed it to IP Based Route, every thing started working fine. now i can connect the Vm to AD, Lotus etc. it was such a wonderful experience to have a chat with you.
