vcb not working on NT4 guests ?

Hi,

We are using vcb to backup about 8 machines using file level backup at the moment, from these 8 there are 3 nt4 hosts. On these NT4 machines the VCB backup always fails, whereas the W2K3 machines, or XP machines are backupped fine.

Should there be some additional configuration to allow for file level backup of NT4 hosts ?

Regards,

Hen

Start with some basic troubleshooting. This is a good mini-howto (http://searchvmware.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid179_gci1277081,00.html)

It's not that the driveletters are incorrect.

the backup just fails entirely.

for the w2k3 machines that are on the same vc server and backupped through the same vcb proxy all works fine.

same problem for me only the nt 4.0 mashine can not be backup over vcb with file level access. The vcb proxy will hung at mounting the snapshot. After aborting the vcb process the snapshot from the nt 4.0 vmware can also not be deleted while still in use.

The nt4 mashine has vm-version 4.
