vcb and W2008 R2

I'm using esx 3.5 U5 together with VCenter Server 2.5 U6.

I must use vcb 1.5 U2 on a Backup proxy server on W2008 R2 (64-bit).

I found only W2008 64-bit as a supported OS.

Does anyone has experiences if vcb 1.5 U2 works on W2008 R2 as a backup proxy?

Also should I install the MPIO driver for multipath from W2008 R2 for my Emulex dual port adapter or not?

I have a dual port Emulex FC-Adapter connect with two path to my Hitachi Storage.

Thanks for any reply.

I would also like to know if anyone validated functionality of VCB 1.5U2 on Windows 2008 R2 x64.

We're planning to upgrade our proxy servers and R2 is our standard but VCB release notes state only Windows 2008 no SP nor R2.

I opened a Case von VMware support and they told me, that vcb 1.5 U2 is end of life.

So they won't do anything for this product to work on W2008 R2.

Maybe it helps, if a lot of people reading this post would make an enhancement request.

VMware Data Recovery isnt'a a really solution for me.

Yes,

the trend was already off the VMware VCB, and put the VDR in its place,

which is an OVF, and you manage your backups via a plugin in vCenter,

this makes it more friendly.

There is the function of bringing the vmdk deduplicating only space used and the same. But it has its limitations.
