vSwitch teaming with a single phyiscal switch

I have a customer with ESX 3.5 U2. They only have a single physical switch and would like to team two vNICs supporting a vSwtich using the single physical switch. Has anyone seen any issues with setting the vSwtich teaming setting to allow both vNICs to active?

i think you mean pNIC's to be active?

There are no issues with that. We have 70 ESX servers and all pNIC's are active. Remember that loadbalancing not the same is as load-balancing feature of advanced routing protocols. It's just balancing the number of connections.

Is the purpose of the dual connections for throughput or failover?

Their configuration is just for failover, they are using the defaults.

Should be fine...

You may want to check those defaults. I thought explicit failover had to be defined.
