upgrade to vsphere4

Do I need a new key to upgrade to vsphere4? Our rep said its free to upgrade from esx3.5 to vsphere 4 enterprise but not enterprise plus.

Hello.

Yes, you will need new keys. The license server from vi3 has been replaced. Generally speaking, if you have an active support contract, you may get the new version. As with all things licensing related, it might not be a good idea to generalize. Smiley Happy

If you have VI3 Enterprise AND an active SnS you can upgrade to VS4 Enterprise.

Until dec 2009 you can upgrade to Enterprise Plus with a discount price.

Do I need a new key to upgrade to vsphere4

If you have an active SnS you will find the new serial under the web license portal.
