time out on remove snapshot

When we remove snapshots with big delta files we have a time out after 15 mn.

The time out of the VC is std => 30 s for short operation and 120 mn for long operation ... and I lost the disk...

so... I can't rmove snapshot and I must "clone" the disk and destroy the disk with the snapshot.

Any idea ?

Sounds like your disk is fragmented.

Question: Does VMware provide a tool to defrag an ESX's Datastore? If so, is this tool available through a GUI, or is this run on the command line only?

I have run into issues with commiting snapshots timing out. In some cases, I needed to drop to command line and perform the following command :

vmware-cmd /vmfs/volumes/vmfsvolumename/vmname/vmname.vmx removesnapshots[/code]

In most cases, even when the snapshot "times out" on committing, it is still successful.

When you say you "lost the disk", did the actual VMDK file get deleted?
