time is reset on esx servers and the VMs on them

Hi all,

We got a reported time reset issue of ESX servers and the guest VMs on them. Even though date is set using date and hardware sync commands, ESX and VMs are automatically getting reset to a different time. This happens after approximately 10 days time after the time is set.

NTP is not running on the esx servers.

ESX server is ESX - 3.0.2 and Guest OSs are Windows 2000 and Windows 2003.

Anyone has any ideas about the issue. Thanks.

the service console is just a VM so it could be something to do with the service console not always being in sync as well. Is there any particular reason you are not using NTP? We have an atomic time device for keeping time for the RSA devices and we just use NTP to sync up with it.
