register virtual machine ha-datacenter the object or item referred to could not be found

Hi,

After a complete shutdown of the ESX Cluster 3.5 and restart.

The vCenter server (which is a VM on that cluster) was moved from host via the 'add to inventory' command. It was not possible to remove it from the old host because it was inaccessible at that time.

Now we get 'register virtual machine / ha-datacenter / the object or item referred to could not be found' +/- every 10min. errors on all individual hosts not on the vCenter server.

Anybody any tips?

Solved!

Disconnect all hosts at the same time from the cluster and reconnect. The VM's will still be running. Including the vCenter Server.

Disconnect one at a time doesn't help. Reconfigure for VMware HA doesn't help.

I have the same fault, tried this fix but it didn't resolve the problem. I have two ESX servers in this cluster and both show this error message every few minutes.

Can anybody help?
