It appears when want import virtuals appliances in esxi.

The virtual appliances downloaded from web, I don't have *.ovf.

Have you tried selecting All Files at the bottom of the browse box, and then specifying the file you want to import?

If that doesn't work, you could use Vmware Converter to import the appliances into ESX

I have been told the converter keeps crashing, I have not tried it myself as I am trying to evaluate the software. I also noted that the free version of the converter will not even let you try and convert this type of file. This whole process is proving to be somewhat difficult especially when your trying to evaluate the software, like myself.

Is there Any other way of getting ESX to read ovf files without having to purchase a contract.

Sorry I seem to have mis-read your original post.

ESX 3.5 U2 already reads ovf files, within the VI client go to File -> Virtual Appliance -> Import and then you can browse to the OVF file
