missing hard drive

I just installed ESX 3.5 U3 on an HP ML350G5. The G5 has six 500 MB SATA drives configured as two 1 TB RAID 5 arrays. When I look at the storage configuration though the VC client, I only see one drive. What did I miss when I installed ESX?

What do you see when you run vdf -l from the service console?

The system didn't like the -l option. But it did display some information. The output from the command is in the attached text file.

Have you tried to go through VC client and add storage to see if you see the volumes to create vmfs partitions on them?

The output from fdisk -l is attached. It looks like there aren't any partitions on the 2nd drive.

This is interesting. I actually have two servers with this problem. The one I referred to in my original post was delivered from HP with all of the drives installed. This did not fix that problem. However, I upgraded the 2nd server from four 250 GB drives to six 500 GB drives. This worked on the 2nd server.

Can you post the output directly in the thread? I can't open the links. Did you do as suggested above? Running through the wizard to see if it will pick up the drive?

Here is the output from the vdf command: I was able to fix this server by running the wizard.

And here is the output from the fdisk command: I couldn't run the wizard on this server because I couldn't add storage.

Does anyone have an idea as to why the 2nd hard drive wasn't partitioned on this server by the ESX installer?

It turns out I needed to manually create a VMFS3 partition on the 2nd drive during installation.
