memory resources for VM - limits

Hi,

I want to make sure I get it right - if a VM is configured with 8GB of RAM (right click->edit settings->Hardware Tab->Memory for this Virtual Machine) and later on, You will change on Resources Tab (for this VM) Memory Limit to 4096, then it means that this particural VM will use maximum of 4GB of ram (instead of 8GB), is this correct ?

Yes. Is the same or setting the memory to 4 GB (in the first tab) Smiley Happy

Could be useful in resource pool.

Yes you are right. I would not use it unless you are using Ressource pools. It can leed to Balooning and Swapping on the host.
