ip address of the log on screen does not change

Hi

I changed the ip address of the service console (Vi3) using the command esxcfg.

The IP address gets changed and i am able to communicate thru the IP address.

The problem here is that the main screen continues displaying the old IP address.

Kindly let me know how i could configure the new ip to be displayed on the logon screen

I have noticed this, even after a "service mgmt-vmware restart". Rebooting the host fixes it.

Are you talking about the VI client splash screen to connect to the server. It will always default to the last server you connected to, you can type anything you want in there though. Just type in the new IP address and it should work. If you really want to clear the recent connections you can run regedit and clear the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VMware\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Preferences\RecentConnections value.

Try modifying the /etc/hosts file, then alt f1 alt f11 to regenerate splash screen.
