installation problem

I'm installing VMWare esx 3.5 server on compaq proliant dl380 server dual pIII 1.0 ghz 1.4 ghz ram. but system doesn't install error message (No hard drive found). could you please advise me what should i do.

Welcome to the VMware Community forums. ESX supports a limited hardware set. Here's the official list - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi35_io_guide.pdf. ESX is able to recognize a number of other controllers though and will work with them. What sort of SCSI controller does this server have?

You dont have a supported controller card.

Get one.

Here are the smart array models that 3.5 will recognize.

You need at least a 5300/5i embedded controller for this to work. I had put a 5300 in my dl 380 g2 to get it to recognize the disks/array.
