install vmware-tools rpm in rhel5

Hi

I have installed installed the vmware-tools rpm in rhel5 running rpm -ivh vmware-tools

The install completed succesfully, i have enabled automatic startup with chkconfig vmware-tools on and then rebooted the server.

Still the tools are not launched, what am i missing?

Thanks

Hello

Unlike windows tools unless you are running X, there is nothing that says they are running. Mainly the vmware tools add device drivers for vmxnet and vmmemctl. Check if they are loaded. Modern ones also run vmware-guestd.

Start by having a looking in the vmware tools log file?

/var/log/vmware-tools-guestd

What does the command service vmware-tools status return?
